2010 marks the 15th season of the Junior Program at The Lakes!
Program INFO
Our Junior Camp session runs for one week, Monday through Friday. Each student will have the opportunity to learn the following golf lessons: putting techniques, sand shots, pitching, chipping, & all basic tee to green shots, along with the driver. But most importantly the clinic will focus on the rules of golf and course etiquette.
The Junior Clinic sessions are also conducted in the same manner, except the group meets once per week over a multi-week period, with the fifth meeting the on-course day.
The beginners program is designed to give the students a very basic understanding of each of these lessons, and give them a chance to experience the basics of golf. It is in no way an all-inclusive instruction camp…our intention with the beginner level camp is to introduce your children to the game of golf. Please remember that the best way to optimize the instruction from this camp is to allow your junior golfer to practice outside of the camp session, and encourage them to practice.
The advanced sessions are designed for juniors who may have already gone through our camps or clinics in the past. This camp will spend more time on the range and on the course than the beginner session will. The only prerequisite for the advanced session is having been in our junior programs in years past, or if the junior can express a knowledge of the basics of the game.
Each of the West Bend Lakes Junior Program sessions will be capped at 16 students. This allows the instructors to take more time with the students allowing more effective 1-on-1 instruction.
Cost for each session is $80 per student. This fee includes some general accessories for each student, including tees, divot tools, ball markers, program information booklet, fees for course time, and some other golf-related items. Also included is the Friday / final day Scramble and Pizza Party afterwards!

Junior Club Fitting Program
As is an issue every season, we see many of our junior players attempting to play with improper equipment. Continuing in 2010, we will offer FREE Junior club fitting!
During these sessions, we are offering an affordable way to get properly fit clubs into your junior’s hands. We are also offering a TRADE IN PROGRAM if your junior golfer has outgrown their old clubs, or if the clubs you have for them are too either too large or are adult length, we are offering this one-on-one fitting session to measure them for the proper size clubs. Should your junior need the clubs they have lengthened or shortened, repaired, or re-gripped, bring them in with your junior golfer, and we will make the necessary adjustments at a discounted rate before the junior clinic starts.
Rental clubs are also available, and if you wish to rent junior clubs for your student, you must reserve these clubs before the start of the class.
The fittings are FREE – and all club repair and club purchases are discounted for camp and clinic students! The fitting date for West Bend Lakes’ 2010 program IS:
Tuesday, June 15, 2010, from 6:00 - 7:30 PM
Please e-mail to wblgolfpro@yahoo.com to reserve a specific club fitting time outside of this sesson if this date / time does not work for your schedule.
ALL STUDENTS MUST HAVE THEIR OWN SET OF CLUBS – NO SHARING OF CLUBS IS ALLOWED FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE STUDENTS.

Important Info
--- Each junior golfer is required to have their own set of clubs. Club sharing is not allowed, because it limits the number of swings that each student is able to take during the limited time sessions. If your junior does not have a set of clubs, we ask you to bring them to the club fitting sessions that we have scheduled so that we may fit them for a proper set. These clubs are available for purchase at a nominal cost. If you wish to rent clubs for your junior golfer, you must reserve rental clubs at these club fitting sessions prior to the camp starting. If your student comes to class without clubs, they will not be able to participate. Due to the sheer size of our junior programs, we ask that all club purchases and rentals be done prior to the start of the session, in order for us to be able to accommodate the potential demand for clubs and / or rental clubs.
--- The time of year that these sessions run is notorious for warm weather. Please prepare your junior golfer with proper sun protection and either send them with a something to drink, such as a bottle of water, or send them with $2 to purchase a bottled beverage from the clubhouse. Please make sure that your students have completed any of these necessary pre-session activities (sunscreen application, beverage purchasing) prior to the time that the session starts.
---Junior students are welcome to congregate near the practice green while waiting for their session to begin, or while waiting for their ride to arrive. We ask that they be conscious of our other sessions or to other golfers so that they won’t be a distraction.
--- Rain Policy - In the event of inclement weather during a session day, we will still meet during our scheduled session time. During rain days we will have a rules seminar and possibly watch a golf instruction video. Your junior golfers are not required to attend rain day events, but please note that there will not be a make-up for any days that are rained out.
Who’s eligible to enroll?
We have no restrictions as to the age of your junior golfer. For our beginner sessions, we only ask that they have a genuine interest in the game, and are able to participate in a group instruction setting without being disruptive.
The instruction in the beginner camp is very basic, and is geared towards the beginner or novice player.
If your junior golfer is ahead of the curve, or has participated in past years camps, we ask that you consider enrolling them in the advanced program. The only prerequisite to the advanced program is having been through the beginner’s session. If your student has had prior golf instruction, but has not been in our camps, please contact us to determine your junior’s placement. We’ll also help you determine your junior’s placement if they’ve been in the program before, and if they may benefit from going through the beginner level program again.
Students that have completed the June 2010 Camp session may enroll in the advanced version of the Clinic provided there is adequate class space.
If you have any questions about the program, or about the advanced levels, please feel free to email to wblgolfpro@yahoo.com, or call Paul at (262)893-1363.
